Filter housings, bags and cartridges: what are you buying?

Identify the equipment and the replaceable element first. A new housing and a replacement bag or cartridge require different information.

What does the housing do?

The housing connects to the piping and holds the element. Review connections, installation space, operating pressure and temperature, materials and maintenance access. Flow or appearance alone does not define a configuration.

How do bags and cartridges compare?

Bags and cartridges are replaceable elements. Melt-blown, depth, pleated, high-flow, metal and specialty cartridges differ in construction. Compare media, dimensions, end fittings, seals and rating basis against the fluid and contaminants. A series name alone is insufficient.

How should the first inquiry start?

For new equipment, start with the fluid, flow, operating conditions and connections. For replacement elements, share photographs, labels, dimensions or a previous order. Mark missing details as unknown so they can be reviewed together.
